Our recent PCB study was picked up by Knack

Due to the multitude of negative effects on the environment and human health, the environmental fate and toxicity of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are of a global concern. In one of our recent publications, we reported that the international efforts to reduce PCB emissions have effectively reduced concentrations in open water ecosystems like the Belgian coastal zone. However, based on our evidence, it appears that these efforts have not (yet) led to reduced concentrations in the urbanized and industrialized areas of the Scheldt estuary which might be caused by the resurfacing of buried POPs due to the recent dredging activities in the Scheldt estuary. Knack, a popular Dutch-Belgian news magazine, has seen our study and decided to include this in their science column.
